MALVERN Town had what they called a bad day at the office in their final home game of the season as they fell to a 3-0 reverse at the hands of Westbury United.
The first sight on goal fell to Jack Watts who made room for a strike that was watched by the keeper who made a routine save.
As The Hillsiders started to up the pressure with a series of corners, Reece King managed to put a teasing ball back into the danger zone as the visitors scrambled clear.
A neat passage of play ended with King’s cross just evading everyone in the middle and then an inviting high ball from Lewis Spurrier midway through the first half was met by a looping header from Joe Bullock that went just over.
Some positive work from Lewis Platt saw him feed Levi Francis whose strike was saved and then positive play from Bullock saw him almost find Watts in the middle.
After a strike from distance from Spurrier went just over, while at the other end, Arthur Zenihov claimed well on his senior debut in The Hillsiders' goal as they went in goalless at the break.
A slip early in the second period allowed the visitors to have an effort at goal as Cross’ effort went just over before moments later at the other end, Francis’ shot was straight at the keeper.
Watts danced his way through only for his strike to be blocked in front of goal as the appeals for handball were waved away.
Shortly afterwards, Hill in the visitors’ goal did superbly well to claw away Adam Sauntson’s close-range header before a low effort from King.
The visitors took the lead on 68 minutes when a strike from distance by Griffiths found its way into the net.
Buoyed by the goal, the visitors saw Flippance denied by Zenihov following a sharp break.
As the clock ticked down, Flippance was able to turn the ball home from close range to double the visitors’ advantage and then in stoppage time, Cockerill found himself unmarked to make it 3-0 to complete a disappointing final home game of the season.
