A FRUSTRATED Carl Heeley bemoaned his side’s lack of bravery in the final third as Worcester City slipped to a late FA Cup defeat against 10-man Bromley.

Richard Pacquette’s 90th-minute strike condemned Worcester to a heart-breaking exit at Hayes Lane as the visitors lacked potency in the penalty area with City’s boss rueing a missed opportunity to reach the first round proper.

Heeley said: “All the way through this cup run, we said to the boys that when it ends, you want to have given it everything you’ve got and end up getting beaten by a better side.

“You don’t want to be sitting there thinking, ‘How have we lost that?’ “But we have been beaten by a side that, in my opinion, were nowhere near as good as us, so that is exactly what has happened and hopefully the players will understand those words now.

“There is a lot of frustration in the dressing room because we should have got a draw at the very least with the possession and dominance we had. I thought Bromley were waiting to be beaten.

“In the last third, we needed to take a chance and be brave but we didn’t do that enough.

“We flattered to deceive a little bit in that area although it was a good performance until we got into the last third.

“There was no cutting edge and I have got to look at that because it has been evident for a while.

“Last week we were brilliant but had no cutting edge so that is something we may need to address.”
