I HAVE seen some things during my time in football and I thought I had witnessed them all, but I was left just standing in disbelief when Halifax scored twice in injury-time to snatch victory on Saturday.

Although they put a little bit of pressure on us in the last 20 minutes, we had played so well, defended solidly and I couldn’t see them scoring.

In the first 20 minutes, they set up to pass the ball around, but it soon became evident we were stronger than them in midfield.

After that, they switched to a very direct style, but we were still able to deal with it.

When we deservedly got our goal, I was confident we would go on to win as I could not see them scoring. But how wrong can you be?

The game was turned on its head in the space of two minutes and we were left to make the long journey home on the back of a defeat.

That result will go down as the biggest injustice of the whole season in our division.

My players are an honest bunch of lads, though, and they work incredibly hard.

Of course, we will lose games of football.

But it won’t be for the want of trying.

They will be determined to put last Saturday’s result behind them as soon as possible and they won’t need any picking up ahead of this weekend’s Blue Square Bet North home game with Colwyn Bay.

We will look at the positives we can take out of the Halifax game — we played very well against a side I rate as the biggest club outside of the Blue Square Bet Premier but they were second best for 89 minutes.

Also, I thought defenders Tyler Weir and Ellis Deeney were excellent on their debuts — as were all of the other lads — and I’m sure they will become big favourites at Worcester. If there is one flaw in our game, then it is that we have a tendency to concede sloppy goals.

We are working hard to correct it and, if we can do that, we could be in for a very exciting last three months of the season.

We picked up what was a well-deserved 2-0 win at Colwyn Bay before Christmas in tricky conditions and it is a difficult place to go to.

They are a good side and it will be a tough game at St George’s Lane on Saturday, but we have to be confident going into the match and we will be looking to get back to winning ways at the first opportunity.

Against Halifax, Danny Edwards had to come off with a tight groin and Matt Birley was dead on his feet, so I was forced into making a few changes, but that is what you have a squad for.

Danny should be okay for Saturday, while I am hoping to also have Lee Ayres and Simon Brown available.
