PERDISWELL Park golfers have contested two 36-hole competitions — the George Knight Trophy and the Two-Day Trophy.
After the first round of the George Knight Trophy, it looked like John Rudge would make it three trophies in consecutive weeks when he shot an opening eight-under-par nett 60, which was two shots clear of his nearest rival.
However, his second round 68 was not good enough to hold off Clive Instan.
Lying in 10th place after a first round nett 65, Instan followed up with a nett 60 for a two-round total of 125, which was three better than second-placed Rudge.
The Two-Day Trophy was held over consecutive Wednesdays and it was a similar story as the first round leader couldn’t hold onto his early advantage.
Brian Cash led the field by three shots after the opening 18 holes with an unblemished nett 58. He couldn’t capitalise, though, as his second round 72 saw him post 130.
The eventual winner was Fred Pickwick, whose first round nett 62 and second round 61 gave hime a total of 123 to secure the trophy.
Cliff Hayes (62 and 63) took the runners-up slot.
