FIVE teenagers from the Martley area gave up a day’s school holiday to stage a dawn-to-dusk golf marathon to raise money for charity.
Fifteen-year-olds Sam Adams, Dominic Buxton, Sam Barnett and Alex Holdsworth and 14-year-old Mark Johnson, teed off at Upper Sapey golf club at 5.15am and played continuously on the 18-hole course, until it got dark in a bid to raise awareness and money for research into Parkinson’s disease.
Adams came up with the idea and organised the event as a way of supporting his father Paul, who has Parkinson’s.
It was the second fund-raising sports marathon the boys have staged after earlier in the year playing badminton non-stop for nine hours.
