HEREFORD United chairman David Keyte has hailed his first year in the job as a success.
Today marks 12 months since Keyte and vice-chairman Tim Russon took over from Graham Turner at Edgar Street.
It has been a roller-coaster ride culminating in the Bulls securing their Football League status on the penultimate weekend of the season.
Prior to that, Jamie Pitman replaced Simon Davey as manager and also led the team to the FA Cup fourth round, equalling the club’s best ever performance.
Other key moments saw striker Mathieu Manset sold to Championship club Reading for a club record fee and the Edgar Street ground lease bought back from Carillion Richardson, settling a £1million debt in the process.
Keyte said: “I have enjoyed it and I always say to people it’s not like proper work really. I am not sure what I expected but what we are doing is running the club as efficiently as we can.
“We are very pleased with the first year financially and I am looking forward to next season already.”
He added: “There have been plenty of highs and lows which you would expect from any season.
“One of the highest points was in the FA Cup run, while one of the lowest was having to sack manager Simon Davey after 10 matches.”
