KIDDERMINSTER Harriers could net as much as £20,000 following the sale of captain Keith Briggs.

The 29-year-old midfielder has joined Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Fleetwood Town on a two-year deal with the Aggborough club receiving an initial fee of £5,000.

However, that figure could quadruple if a series of add-ons are triggered while Stockport-based Briggs is with the Lancashire club.

Although the clauses have not been revealed, it is possible one could be based on Town gaining promotion to the Football League after losing in the play-offs this time around.

Harriers chairman Mark Serrell said: “Keith wanted to be closer to home after the birth of his son and that is understandable.

“The fee doesn’t seem a lot but if all the clauses are fulfilled we will net nearly £20,000, which is a lot better.”

Harriers also look set to be without last season’s leading marksman Chris McPhee who may opt to play for a club nearer his Exeter home.

Versatile McPhee, 28, scored 18 goals for Steve Burr’s side but is a free agent.

Kidderminster assistant manager Gary Whild said: “He’ll be thinking about moving to a club closer to his home.”

Meanwhile, defender Tom Sharpe will return for pre-season training in a bid to earn a new deal.
