STILLWATER angling experts Chris Carter and Chris Summers have dominated the Alan’s Tackle Pairs League at Brockamin since the first round.

They continued to do so right up to the final match with the pair taking both first and second individual places.

Coming out on top of the 18-angler entry was Carter from peg 22 on the small pool where he netted 11 carp on the method feeder for a comfortable winning total of 75lbs 6oz.

Summers’ second place was off peg 30 on the same pool where he used paste at nine metres for an eight-fish net going 52-6.

Consistent Darren Fisher was third with another method feeder catch of 33-2 to beat Alan Baldwin, who used the same tactics on peg eight for a fourth-placed 27-14.

Summers and Carter won the day with two points and the league with 17.

Pete Bailey and Fisher were second with seven points and runners-up in the league with 20, while Baldwin and Chris Senter were third overall with 33.

Dave Warren’s affinity with the carp in the Whitehall Pool continued when the host club member easily beat all comers to win the first round of the popular Thursday evening open on the venue with 39-14.

Drawn on peg nine, Warren offered paste bait at six metres to take an all-carp net.

Runner-up was Fox AC’s Lee Davey who used maggot and corn on peg 27 to weigh in one carp among a bag of silver fish going 16-2.

Third was Bill Hartland with an all-silver fish net of 13-10.

The series runs for the next seven weeks and anyone interested can call Warren on 07880-558866.

Arbo AC members enjoyed a close contest on the Oak Pool at Cob House Fisheries where Dave Hindley took the honours with a method and corn all-carp net of 39-8 from peg 14. Nigel Hodgetts took the runner-up prize on peg seven thanks to a corn and meat-caught weight of 39-1.

Third place went to Brendan Tally with 33-12 and fourth was the previous week’s club winner Phil Bennett with 30-12 from peg eight.

On Sunday the Arbo are on their own pool.

While the home club were away, the Portobello anglers got to grips with the carp on the Arbo Pool at Leigh Sinton.

Alan Tibbetts came out on top by taking 59-14 of fish, all caught at eight metres on pellet and corn.

New member Mike Hendry was second with another all-carp net, the biggest being 12-10 in a total of 57-12.

Veteran Pete Coldrick finished third with 43-6 to beat Gary Brixton junior’s weight of 39-10.

Boats were a problem for Swan AC members when they visited the scrapyard section of the Staffs/Worcs Canal at Kidderminster.

One man not complaining was winner Tim Biddle who made it two wins in a row when he annihilated the opposition with an excellent 13-6-15 catch.

It consisted of four chub along with a 1lb perch and a big eel taken on caster before a run of small fish on squatt and groundbait later on.

Mick Samson caught perch on caster along with a few roach late on hemp going 5-1-11 for second place.

Stuart Spencer was third with 4-4-7 of roach and perch, while Bill Biddle’s 2-9 all-perch weight was good for fourth.
