WORCESTER City club players were well represented at the annual meeting of the Worcestershire Chess Association in Claines.

They were crowned 2010-11 league champions and president Peter Kitson presented the Bonham Memorial Trophy to Worcester secretary Andrew Farthing.

Division Two winners were Redditch and the Wheatley Memorial Trophy for the team handicap knock-out tournament was claimed by Hagley.

The two county teams have had good seasons with the under 140s and the under 120s winning Midlands Team Championship titles and playing in the national quarter-finals.

After 20 years of looking after the association’s finances, Bert Foord (Droitwich) stepped down to be replaced by Brian Turner (Malvern).

The only other change was a new captain for the county first team in the form of Ray Collett (Worcester).

President Kitson (Worcester), honorary secretary Maurice Bissell (Kidderminster), captain of the under 140s team Giles Stanton (Redditch) and under 120s skipper Richard Turner (Redditch) were all re-elected.
