WORCESTER City Amateur Boxing Club schoolboy Grant Attwood lost out on points to Coventry’s Callum Sloan.
A previous encounter between the pair resulted in an Attwood victory by way of a majority decision.
However, this was not the case this time against the Triumph ABC fighter.
Attwood started the stronger and built up a 5-1 lead with the sharper punches.
The second round was a more even affair with Sloan narrowing the gap to 9-8 in favour of Attwood.
The taller Coventry boxer used his long arms to rack up points with his left jab but Attwood continued to make better contact with his punches as right hands jolted back the head of Sloan.
Both boxers tried their hardest in the last round to secure victory but Sloan managed to impress the judges for a 15-14 win.
Attwood’s cleaner punches and work-rate went unnoticed, leaving the Worcester boy pondering the decision.
