WESTSIDE Wanderers Under 14s have been rewarded for sticking together through the tough times.
The Rushwick-based club were on the wrong end of some beatings last season but have bounced back to win Mercian Festival Junior League Division Two this time around.
They completed the job with a 3-1 win over title rivals Worcester Wizards with Steve Tredger, James Hughes and Steve Genever scoring the goals.
Most of the players have been together for the past five years but it has not always been a smooth ride.
Chairman Peter Hughes explained: “Last season, we lost nearly every game, regularly by 15 or 18-0 and sometimes with only eight or nine players, and the club nearly broke up.
“But, through the determination of most of the lads and by sticking together, they have just had a great season.”
