AN up-and-coming triathlete hopes to get the vote to represent an elite team in the Canary Wharf challenge.

Anna Price, 26, is among the final three candidates to tackle the swimming section of the relay super sprint triathlon in London for Team GE on June 30.

People are being asked to vote by liking her profile on the GE Triathlon Facebook page before June 6 with the winner announced the following day.

GE are the elite partner to the Great Britain triathlon team and it would give Price a chance to shine on the big stage in the 25 to 30 year age bracket.

The Tewkesbury Triathlon Club member has been competing for the last two years over sprint and Olympic distances across the UK and in Sweden.

A national league and ex-northern counties water polo player, she said: “I thought it could be a good opportunity to get recognised.

“I was selected by Great Britain coaches as one of the candidates and it could open doors for me.

“I would be trying to go as fast as possible to help the team to a good collective time while going head-to-head with some of the elite.

“I have been swimming from a young age and competed for my club. I didn’t get to national level but moved on to water polo at the age of 12.”

Originally from Liverpool, Price moved to Worcester 15 months ago with her work as an ecologist and now lives in Battenhall.

To vote, people are asked to like the GE Triathlon page first before then doing the same for Price’s profile.

Meanwhile, Worcester Triathlon Club will hold their children’s duathlon on Sunday.

The University of Worcester hosts the event which is part of this year’s West Midlands Junior Triathlon Series.

But, because there is no pool available, it will be a run-bike-run event with the distances varying by age group.

Worcester members are to wear the club’s new kit for the first time.

Registration is from 8am by using the Henwick Road entrance with racing starting at 9.30am.
