A WORCESTERSHIRE duo were put through their paces in the Lawn Tennis Association’s (LTA) national talent ID finals.
Droitwich’s Ryan Gaskin, 11, and 12-year-old Ellie-Rose Griffiths from Broome, near Kidderminster, were among 50 youngsters invited to Bolton Arena after impressing at county and regional days.
They showed off their skills in front of the LTA talent ID team, who aimed to spot future performance players displaying the right attributes.
Gaskin said: “This was my first talent ID day and I had been looking forward to it for a long time.
“I was looking forward to the drills the most but I enjoyed the matchplay at the end as well.”
Griffiths said: “I have been here two times before and they are really good, fun days.
“They are tiring but I have a really good time when I come here.”
The day was overseen by LTA head of talent management Andrew Lewandowski.
He said: “Ryan and Ellie-Rose performed really well and shown lots of ability across a number of different tasks testing qualities, including athletic ability, coordination, speed and agility and a real natural talent and love for the sport.”
