WORCESTERSHIRE will play two warm-up games starting today (3pm) ahead of the start of the new Friend’s Life t20 next week.
The New Road side will travel to Minor Counties outfit Shropshire today before returning home to face Scotland tomorrow (5.30pm) ahead of next Friday’s trip to Lancashire Lightning.
Director of cricket Steve Rhodes, who is still without injured captain Daryl Mitchell (ribs), has named two squads for the two games with Alexei Kervezee, Vikram Solanki, Neil Pinner, Jack Manuel, James Cameron and Jack Shantry all playing in both matches.
Stand-in skipper Moeen Ali will not feature at Wellington, while veteran seamers Alan Richardson and Damien Wright are both rested for the Scotland match.
However, Matt Mason will make his return at New Road after being out with a shoulder problem.
Meanwhile, new signing Adrian Shankar will be out for up to six weeks after an MRI scan revealed knee ligament damage following his injury on the third morning of Worcestershire’s LV= County Championship match with Durham last week.
