WORCESTER Warriors are in advanced talks with David Lloyd Leisure about developing a health and racquets club at Sixways.

Discussions are on-going with two developers, but Warriors general manager Charlie Little revealed he expects building work to start around the end of this year with a view to completing the project by 2013 if contracts can be ex-changed in the coming months.

Little said: “We already have planning consent that dates back to our development in 2006 but are now in discussions with two developers about building a health and racquets club.

“Sixways is a potential site for a new David Lloyd Leisure and we are moving forward with a preferred developer.

“David Lloyd have approved one of the two developers that we were talking to, in terms of their own financial model, so we are now looking to work with that developer to make things happen.

“They will now come to Sixways and have a look at the site in terms of what is required beneath the ground. They need to work out how much will have to be spent to get the site ready to build on, but it is obviously beneficial that we have already put in all the access roads.

“We can exchange contracts, but we won’t complete until all that is done, which I would estimate would take five to six months. Hopefully, building would then commence in 2012 and the facility would be ready for 2013.”

A spokesperson for David Lloyd Leisure would only confirm they were intending to build a new racquets club in Worcester.

Meanwhile, Warriors have announced details of the club’s 2011/12 season ticket packages and will be honouring the pledge they made following relegation from the Premiership to offer a fixed price for two seasons.

The special deal means many supporters can enjoy Aviva Premiership rugby for some of the club’s lowest prices since their original promotion back in 2004.

Fans will need to renew before 5pm on Friday, July 1, to guarantee reserving a specific seat in their chosen stand.

Season ticket holders will gain entry to 16 home games at Sixways, including 11 Premiership matches, three in the Amlin Challenge Cup and two LV= Cup clashes.
