GRAHAM Ward could become the latest former Worcester City player to join Evesham United.
The Irish right-back rejected terms to extend his stay at St George’s Lane into a sixth season and has approached Robins boss Paul West about a possible switch.
United, who have been City’s tenants for five seasons, already have ex-Worcester midfielder Craig Wilding and defensive duo Wayne Daniel and Kevin Spencer on their books.
Although Ward would be dropping down a level — Evesham play in the Zamaretto League Premier Division — the Cheltenham Road-bound club only training once a week and having less travelling could be a selling point.
West said: “Graham Ward has been in touch. It’s clear that he’s available but it’s not just about getting the cheque book out, it’s about creating an environment where players enjoy their football.”
Meanwhile, the Robins have fought off competition from their rivals to sign keeper Nathan Vaughan, who was named supporters’ player-of-the-year, on a two-year deal.
Midfielders James Blake, Mark Hands and Calvin Dinsley have also re-signed alongside striker Marcus Palmer.
West is also hoping United’s Ghanaian trio, leading scorer Isaac Shaze, forward David Accam and midfielder Samuel Mensah, stay at the club.
