WORCESTERSHIRE’S director of cricket Steve Rhodes is hoping that Vikram Solanki will be fit for today’s LV= County Championship Division One encounter with Durham at New Road (noon).

The former County captain was rested for last night’s Clydesdale Bank 40 match at Middlesex after sustaining a mild concussion during last week’s Championship game at Warwickshire.

The New Road club will also send out veteran seamers Alan Richardson and Damien Wright after leaving them at home yesterday, while on-loan Middlesex wicketkeeper Ben Scott returns to the team as his loan agreement meant that he was ineligible to play against his parent club.

New signing Adrian Shankar is likely to make his Championship bow for the County after making his debut last night, while 37-year-old seam bowler Matt Mason faces a fitness test on a shoulder problem that has kept him out of the last two four-day matches.

Moeen Ali will continue to captain the side in the absence of injured skipper Daryl Mitchell.
