WORCESTER City have enlisted the help of a customer services expert in a bid to get more fans through the gates at St George’s Lane.

Mark Bradley, founder of the Football League’s family excellence awards, will be giving a talk in the club’s Harry Knowles Lounge on Thursday, May 26 (7.30pm).

He will be looking at ways of increasing attendances through, among other things, the introduction of family areas and improved catering.

Bradley, who has also worked with Liverpool, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and the Scottish Premier League, wants clubs to see things through the eyes of their fans.

He said: “Growing attedances and producing extra resources are huge challenges for non-league and community clubs.

“Yet, no matter how hard clubs work to retain and attract fans, they are often hamstrung by a narrow focus on who the ‘customer’ is and what matters to them.

“However, by using the real experiences of fans as a catalyst for a new way of thinking, a revolution is taking place across the beautiful game, leading to some remarkable examples of progress.”

Worcester director Mike Davis added: “We need to rally as much support as we can in the next two seasons to put us in a strong position to face the future after St George’s Lane.

“This board will not adopt the attitude ‘that our days are numbered so what’s the point’. We would like anyone who is interested in the future of this club to attend.”

City have two seasons left at their century-old home before Careys New Homes start to build on it.

Despite being one of the best supported clubs in Blue Square Bet North, they want to improve their gates and hope Bradley can help them.
