A SIX-hundred-strong army of die-hard Warriors fans will make the 500-mile round trip to Penzance for tomorrow night’s Championship final first leg with Cornish Pirates (7.45pm).
Officials at the Mennaye Field have a handful of tickets left before the game is declared a 3,500-capacity sell-out and an impressive number of Worcester followers will take on the long trek.
When the two sides met in Cornwall on Sunday, Janu-ary 30, around 1,000 Sixways supporters made the journey south, but Richard Hill’s men will still receive admirable away backing given the game is on a mid-week evening.
Rudi Grenfell, marketing manager at Pirates, said: “Sales are going well and we expect the game to sell-out some time today — there may be a few left for people to buy on the day of the game but, at this stage, we’d advise fans not to wait until then to avoid disappointment.
“We’ve not sold as many tickets to Worcester fans as we did for the league meeting back in January, but there will still be around 600 coming.”
Meanwhile, less than 1,500 tickets remain for the second leg of the final at Sixways on Wednesday, May 18 (7.45pm), with the club hoping for a capacity 12,024 crowd.
That would be the first time the club has sold out the ground since their final match in the Premiership — a 23-22 defeat to local rivals Gloucester on Saturday, May 8, last year.
Unprecedented demand for tickets last week at the War-riors box office has been followed by another massive surge of sales over the weekend as fans snap up seats to back Hill’s men in the televised clash.
Those who have already purchased tickets are ad-vised they are now being posted out and should arrive in the coming days.
Meanwhile, fans who cannot make the trip to the Mennaye Field to watch the first leg can catch all the action on the big screens at Sixways.
More than 350 fans are now booked in to create a special atmosphere in the Pitch View Suite. To register your interest e-mail lara.hunter@warriors.co.uk.
