WORCESTERSHIRE captain Daryl Mitchell has been told that he requires another scan on his side injury that forced him out of the Clydesdale Bank 40 Derbyshire defeat mid-over.
The 27-year-old had to leave the field after pulling up following the fifth ball of his third over with a side-strain.
But following an ultra-sound scan, the Badsey-born batsman said that he now needs further investigation.
“The ultra-sound found very little,” he said. “But I’m told that is a good thing.
“There was no blood clotting and hopefully that will help take it down from five weeks to around three.
“I’m now hoping to go for a MRI scan tomorrow to try and find out the full extent of the injury.”
County director of cricket Steve Rhodes said that Moeen Ali will takeover from Mitchell in the interim, but still has to decide who will take his captain’s place in the starting XI in Wednesday’s LV= County Championship Division One derby clash at Warwickshire.
