I AM delighted with what we have achieved so far, the last three games especially.
I think the lads have shown a great work ethic but there's a lot of things we can improve on.
We are not passing the ball well and there's a lot more to come but you have to look at that as a positive in the position we find ourselves in.
I am not complacent in any way and the players are likewise. They know they haven't played up to the standards that they have set themselves.
At this minute in time we just look more comfortable playing away from home. Our away form has been outstanding.
It's an amazing record and hopefully we can continue that. If we can keep anywhere near that form away from home then we can have a good season.
The way we line up home and away probably suits a little bit more away from home when teams come out at us. We are just struggling to really create things at the minute. We are an effective side without that flair which we had towards the back end of last season. Myself and Andy (Morrison) have got to get to the bottom of that to find out why.
Our performances at home, apart from the Nuneaton game, have been disappointing and we want to give the fans a show
We are delighted with the start we have had. We have near enough used the whole squad. There's only a couple of players who have not appeared so far and we have only played six games.
Dennis Pearce is still struggling with his hamstring. We will see if he trains tomorrow but I would hope he would be back for a week on Saturday.
Mark Danks is coming along well and we have a reserve game on Monday. He's itching to get back in.
Tom Warmer is struggling with his knee. He's not fit but we are hoping that might have cleared up by training tomorrow. James Coates is going to be another couple of weeks.
We're still not right, we can't pretend we are playing some free flowing football and attractive footall and we're going to do this and we're going to do that because that's far from it and we've got a lot of work to do.
Really we do need a couple of players in. I think the lads who've come in have done ever so well but they need some help and if we can get one or two in who can help us then that might kick us on.
We've been working the last three months but unfortunately things haven't dropped for us and we will be looking to help the players out who've done so well already for us.
The performance against Alfreton was methodical and nothing special. It wasn't a great game and not a great spectacle. We dug in and those games we were losing 1-0 at the end of last season so maybe that's a positivie sign. We kept a clean sheet.
It's a big club because of the crowds we get and maybe sometimes that overawes the players when we play at home.
