PERSHORE men consolidated second place in ENER-G West Midlands Division Two with a fine 3-1 hockey victory over county rivals Bromsgrove.

They recorded a fifth win in a row with Graham Rushin and Liam Ridings providing the midfield impetus.

Ed Deacon proved Bromsgrove’s main tormentor and scored the opener after Steve Ridsdale’s fine run.

A clever short-corner interchange with Ridings allowed Deacon to hammer home the second.

Bromsgrove reduced the deficit through Bevan Edwards from a short corner.

The match was settled when home captain Jamie Hughes evaded two tackles, drove into the area and rifled the ball past the keeper.

Meanwhile, goals from Tom Boden (3) and Dave Sorrell helped leaders Kidderminster beat Ludlow 4-2.

Evesham lost 5-0 at Old Halesonians in the West Midlands Premier Division.
