WARRIORS away fans were again rueing the Scottish weather after a waterlogged pitch at Currie’s ground saw travel plans kicked into touch.

Die-hard fan Gerry Greer found himself flying off on yet another sporting supporters trip turned sight-seeing tour to Edinburgh after the second postponement to hit the rugby fixture this winter.

Edinburgh-based Currie’s Malleny Park pitch was ruled unfit for play and the match put back 24 hours, with the fixture now kicking off at 7.30pm tonight at the nearby Watsonians ground instead.

Speaking hours before his £60 flight took off yesterday, Mr Greer, a former Worcester boy who has cheered the team across Europe and for most of the Championship games this season, said: “There’s nothing you can do about the weather. Que sera sera.”

The British & Irish Cup fixture was orginally set for Friday, December 17, last year, but plunging temperatures put paid to the fixture.

Mr Greer added: “We’ve had snow and flooding — you’ve got to take it in your stride “I’m sure the Warriors boys will do fine without me!”

Unfortunately, Mr Greer’s work commitments means he was set to fly home hours before tonight’s kick-off.
