WORCESTER Wolves director of basketball Paul James is hoping that new forward Sam Cricelli can add energy to his stuttering side after joining from British Basketball League rivals Plymouth Raiders.

The 6ft 7in England international has been brought in to bolster the squad following the release of injured centre Martynas Versinskas and Lithuanian guard Kastytis Normantas.

The former Plymouth player made his debut for the University of Worcester-based outfit in Friday’s defeat at Sheffield Sharks.

James said: “Sam is going to bring some much needed energy to the team. He is a good athlete and very mobile.

“Having worked with him on the England programme, I'm convinced that our style of play will see him achieve the level of performance he attained for Worthing last season. Several other clubs were also trying to bring Sam to their programme."
