CONFUSION surrounds whether or not Worcester Warriors' British & Irish Cup game at Currie tomorrow will go ahead.

The Edinburgh-based club posted a statement on their website earlier today saying the game had been postponed due to their Malleny Park pitch being waterlogged and that no alternative venue was available.

However, Warriors officials are preparing to travel north as planned, insisting a new venue for the match is still being sought.

The all-weather pitch at Murrayfield has been mooted as a possiblity.

The Currie statement said: "The heavy rain that fell last night and the snow today has waterlogged the pitch at Malleny Park.

"While the forecast is for sun tomorrow, there is no guarantee the pitch will be playable in the evening as the surface water requires to drain into the Water of Leith, which is running very high.

"Regrettably, the fixture has been postponed as we are unable to locate another venue which will be playable. A revised date is not known."

Worcester will be desperate to avoid a repeat of the original date for the fixture in December when the Warriors team coach got to 40 miles from the Scottish capital before learning the game had been postponed.
