WORCESTER Wanderers travelled to Sutton Coldfield and were swept away by the Midlands One (West) promotion-hopefuls’ powerful second-half performance, losing 56-5.
The first-half was a very different story, though, with Wanderers, playing into a strong breeze, matching their opponents in every facet of the game.
An excellent try from Simon James seemed to have kept Wanderers right in the game.
However, the second-half was all Sutton as they moved through the gears to overwhelm the plucky visitors.
The home side’s tempo was excellent and, despite a brave rearguard action from Wanderers, Sutton always seemed to have an extra man.
The few opportunities that were created by Wanderers were quickly snuffed out by a Sutton side determined not to concede points.
On this performance, Sutton look like a good bet to be involved in the final promotion shake-up.
