IT is going to be an extremely hectic weekend for us at the Worcester Wolves.

Last night, we made the journey up to Sheffield Sharks in the British Basketball League before returning to the University of Worcester for today’s 12-hour open day for the launch of our Community Interest Company (CIC).

Then, early tomorrow morning, we are making the trip to Glasgow Rocks.

Weekends like this don’t come along too often but it is one that I’m extremely looking forward to.

The launch of the CIC should be a really fun day with lots going on throughout and most of the BBL squad will play some part.

But they will not be there all the time. The players will be popping in for two spells during the day and I’m sure they will have a lot of fun.

We do have a game to prepare for tomorrow so it is important they get the right amount of rest and eat and hydrate properly. Because of the busy schedule this weekend, training has been quite light — we don’t want to over-work them.

We are leaving for Glasgow at 7am tomorrow — I want us to get there around three hours before the 5pm start.

I want us to be able to try to get the journey out of our legs and make sure we are not blown away early on.

Glasgow have gone under the radar in terms of challenging for the title.

They have been going about their business quietly but have been in and around the top four all season.

If we can stay with them early in the game and get the long journey out of our system, we stand a good chance.

Last Saturday’s 104-92 defeat to Leicester Riders was disappointing. We played well in the first quarter and were defensively solid.

But I felt the game was very poorly managed by the officials.

I felt they were inconsistent throughout. When we were on top, Leicester became physical and aggressive yet when the roles were reversed, we were penalised.

It was highlighted at the end of the match when a technical foul was awarded against Justin Dobbins.

I felt, as Justin did too, that he had made a clean block but the referee called a foul — a decision my player questioned. That allowed Leicester four free-throws with 90 seconds left on the clock.

Basketball is an emotional game and the Riders match saw two teams battling it out for a spot in the play-offs.

We just need more consistency from the officials because against Leicester it felt like it was one rule for them and another for us.

The search for a new centre is nearing an end I hope. I have been talking with one player this week and hopefully he will be with us in the next few days.
