STOURPORT still top Midlands Women’s Hockey League Division One, despite a 1-0 defeat at home to title rivals Beeston seconds.
A last-minute goal denied the Wyre Forest team a point after a strong defensive display.
Keeper Sophie Wood was particularly impressive and earned Stourport’s player-of-the-match award.
The seconds stormed to a 3-1 victory at bottom-of-the-table University of Warwick in the Midlands Conference West.
Stourport had to wait until the 15th minute to make their dominance tell when Caroline Sidell swooped from open play.
Warwick countered but were denied by player-of-the- match Sally Ann Smith in goal.
Stourport extended the lead in the second period through Hayley Ryan, who picked up the ball 25 yards out.
Laura Symonds drove in the third after Sheley Tromans set up Kayleigh Hateley’s short corner before a late Warwick consolation.
Stourport thirds staged a big second-half comeback to beat Old Silhillians 4-3 in Worcestershire League Division One.
Although Alison Baron levelled the visitors’ opener, Old Sils went 3-1 up after the break.
Louise Bagnall and Bethan Merriman pulled Stourport level before player-of-the-match Chloe Marshall-Walker scored a late winner.
Teresa Moss was on target as Stourport fourths lost 2-1 to Pershore in Division Two, despite fine saves from keeper Frances Taylor.
The fifths beat Bromsgrove thirds in Division Three with goals from captain Chey West (2) and Lorna Hawthorne.
