TY Shaw -- arguably the best player ever to pull on a Worcester Wolves vest -- is yet to commit to playing for the club next season.
The giant American centre will be jetting off to the Southern Hemisphere as soon as his English season has finished to play for Kalgoori in the State Basketball League in Western Australia and Wolves have so far been unable to tie up a deal for next year.
Shaw has a stand-by flight to Australia booked, but Wolves have an agreement with Kalgoori that he will not leave England until Wor-cester have finished their EBL Division One campaign.
Director of basketball Mick Donovan said: "It is part and parcel of sport that players' contracts have to be reviewed each year and, while we are looking at options for next year, we tend not to finalise anything until we have finished with the regular season.
"We are not surprised that Ty is returning to Australia -- what coach would not want such an effective player in their side?"
However, Wolves have been boosted by the news that Matt Collins has reached an agreement with the club and will be staying for at least another season.
Following a disappointing end to the season, Wolves go into their play-off clash with Manchester Magic, which is set to be played in front of a full house at the Ameochi Centre in Manchester tonight, as underdogs, but Donovan is confident his side can progress to the next round. The winner of this game will take on either Worthing Thunder or Coventry Crusaders in a two-legged semi-final.
"Everyone seems to have written us out of the play-offs and, following our recent results, that is hardly surprising," said Donovan.
"But I have always said we can beat anyone in a one-off game --and that is exactly the challenge that the play-offs present."
