EVESHAM United put the departure of assistant manager Neil Hunt behind them with a good performance in a 0-0 draw with Redditch United at Common Road.

Hunt left the Southern League Division One Mid-lands club at the start of the week and manager Paul West was glad to see his side give the Nationwide North outfit a run for their money in the friendly encounter on Tues-day.

He said: "I was looking for a response and that's what I got. It was a good game against a strong Redditch side so I was pleased with the overall performance.

"We created a lot of chances and had a few opportunities. As the game wore on their quality told and we had to work hard in the last 20 minutes."

West has added to his squad with the signing of former Birmingham City trainee and Romulus player Liam Daley.

The 18-year-old is happy playing in either defence or midfield.

"I am delighted to get him on board. I have had an eye on him for the last few weeks," West said.

Brothers Richard and Lee Tomkins have left the club along with striker Mark Shepherd.

West will be without midfielders Nathan Jukes and Steve Lutz for the first game of the Division One Midlands campaign on August 19 thr-ough suspension.
