STOURPORT player Dan Packwood has been chosen to represent Wales in the European Trophy Under 21s International Tournament.
The trainee accountant with Kendall Wadley, who are supporting him in his trip, heads to Gibraltar later this month.
Wales will face teams from Scotland, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar.
Packwood has represented Wales at under 18s level and is delighted to step up to the older level.
The versatile defender is happy playing anywhere across the back four.
He said: "I'm grateful to Kendall Wadley for the support they give me.
"It's not every employer who would be as flexible in its approach to allow me to do what I do and I'm keen to do well both on the hockey pitch -- and in my exams -- to show that gratitude to them."
Firm partner Mark Ashworth said: "We're delighted for Dan that he's been selected to play for Wales in this tournament and we're happy to provide the support we can to make this possible."
