KNIGHTON on Teme continued their assault on Crusader Worcestershire League division five with a six-wicket victory over Ombersley.
The win means Knighton have triumphed in seven of their eight games so far this season and could well have had a 100 per cent record but for an abandoned match.
The fine run of form has resulted in Knighton claiming our team of the week accolade and they receive a box of six Fearnley cricket balls, worth £90.
Matthew James was the catalyst for win number seven as he took 4-11 to bowl out Ombersley, who are second from bottom in the table, for just 92.
The Knighton batsmen then cantered to a 20-point win by reaching 93-4.
Knighton player John Humphries puts the team's success down to having a nice blend of youth and experience as well as a good squad of players to call upon.
He said: "We have been performing well this season, but I expected us to after getting relegated last year.
"Hopefully, we can keep on winning and return to division four next season.
"We have strengthened the side by bringing in a few new players, such as Mark Blower who had not played for us for a couple of years.
"We have solid openers in Tim Gasch and Mark Evans and our young opening bowlers -- Dan Pullen and Tom Whistance -- have been taking lots of wickets.
"Martin Toms is our Saturday captain and we have a few experienced players alongside the youngsters.
"Also, Nick Dallow, who has been away at university, should be returning to the team on Saturday and he is one of the best batsmen I have seen at this club for many years."
And it is not just in the league that Knighton have been excelling.
They have also progressed to the quarter-final of the divisions five to eight cup after two victories in the early stages.
