I'M delighted that Nick Colley has agreed a new contract for next season because he's a very important player for us.
Nick always wanted to stay at Worcester and I'm glad it's all been sorted for him and the club.
He's enjoyed a really good season. I would say he's one of those players who have improved the most over the last 12 months, especially in a position he's not used to.
He is used to playing wide on the right rather than in central midfield, but he's took things on board and adapted well in that role.
There is a possibility that Nick can slot in at right wing-back, but we are really looking to push him in midfield.
At 31, Nick is still the fittest player at the football club. He gives us great energy and gets past front men.
Even at his age, there is more improvement to come. He listens, asks questions and is always willing to learn.
We are still waiting for Jai Stanley to agree to a deal, but everybody else is committed to us next season. Players such as Des Lyttle, Dennis Pearce and Justin Thompson will all be here.
A replacement for Rob Warner at right wing-back will be made during the summer, although I know teenager Nat Bulmer will be determined to claim that place.
I'm pleased we have sorted out the future of Nat, Troy Wood, Gary Walker and Dale Watkins. They all have good futures ahead of them.
At the moment, I would say they are all cover players, but as soon as pre-season starts, it's up to them to push themselves forward.
That should be their objective. If I was in their shoes, I would not be sitting back thinking I'm going to be a replacement or second choice to the older, more established players.
They've got to set themselves little goals and try to achieve it. They are all capable of pushing for a first team spot.
They have seen already that I have given opportunities to younger players. If opportunities arise, it is up to them to take that chance.
It is excellent to have four lads emerging from the youth development scheme. This batch has been particularly strong. Ray Woods and Mark Owen have done a really good job in coaching them. It shows why the scheme is good for the club.
As this is my last column of the season, I'd like to thank the players for their efforts.
We've had a good season and, obviously, it's all down to a team effort, through to all the back-room staff that travel with the team, put the kit out, wash the kit and clean lads' boots.
I thank Ben Schiffman, Martin Obrey, Mike Upton and Pete O'Connell for their physio work, Geoff Ashby and Graham Selby with the reserves and club secretary Graham Hill.
Special mention goes to Andy Morrison. Me and `Jock' are a team -- it's a joint effort and we put in a lot of hard work together.
Lastly, thanks to all Worcester City supporters for all your support. Enjoy the summer!
