SKOUSON Harker has been sacked as a player by Worcester Wolves.

The former head coach had his playing contract terminated by the British Basketball League club for his part in the unauthorised strike following a racism row that erupted last month.

Harker is the sixth player to be axed by the University of Worcester-based club following Evaldas Zabas, Vidmantis Uzukurailitis, Nerijus Karlikanovas, Randy George and Chey Christie out the exit door.

The row started during the post-match analysis session against Cheshire Jets.

It was alleged that former head coach Chuck Evans, who resigned in the aftermath, used comments that were taken to be of a racist nature.

Evans was taken to a disciplinary hearing by Wolves and apologised for his remarks, but six players went on an unauthorised strike as they felt the club had not done enough in censoring Evans.

The American resigned shortly afterwards and Wor-cester sacked five players as well as taking Canadian Harker to a disciplinary procedure.

“Skouson will not play for the Wolves again,” chairman Roger Clarke said. “He was one of the striking players and his playing contract has been terminated.

“He still has community work with the Wolves that he is involved in, but as a player he is finished.”

Worcester are now in the process of rebuilding their depleted squad after a turbulent few weeks.

The club’s new head coach, former Guildford Heat boss Paul James, is hoping to announce several new signings by the end of this week.
