BUZZING Alex Grove is back among his Worcester Warriors team-mates after spending a month away with the Scotland squad, winning his first three caps in the autumn internationals.
Although the Sixways academy product has a place on the bench for today’s Guin-ness Premiership trip to London Irish as he recovers from the rigours of facing Argentina, Fiji and Australia, he is raring to get stuck back into club life.
The Warriors outside-centre played every minute of the three Tests, which included a famous victory over the Wallabies, and received rave reviews for his performances.
He said of his international experience: “It was awesome really — a very intense environment, being in camp for a four-week period.
“I feel I’ve learnt a lot from the last four weeks and I can only move forward when I’m in the company of senior internationals.”
Grove is now focused on turning his experiences with Andy Robinson’s Scotland squad to the benefit of his employers at Sixways.
He added: “The games themselves were just an amazing experience, which I feel I have learnt from and can bring back to Worcester.
“It is a very intense environment — the sort of place where if you don’t learn quickly you will be punished.
“I’m enjoying my time getting back into things at Worcester, which starts with London Irish today.”
Despite returning for today’s Premiership test against the second-placed Exiles, Grove still has one eye on his international career.
He said: “The start of the 6 Nations is Sunday, February 7 for us when we have a home game against France. We also play England at home and the others are away. I can’t wait to get back into it.”
