MARC McGregor is set to return to the Worcester City team for tonight’s Blue Square South trip to Thurrock.

The former Weston-super-Mare striker missed Satur-day’s 1-1 draw against Bish-op’s Stortford at St George’s Lane through illness but is expected to have recovered to face the Essex side.

Fellow striker Rob Elvins is banned for the match, having picked up five bookings this season, and McGregor, who scored on his City debut in October, is poised to partner Marco Adaggio up front.

Manager Richard Dryden said: “We’ll see how he is. Marc’s the obvious replacement for Rob, who has done really well since coming back into the side from his suspension. He got hold of the ball against Bishop’s Stortford, won a lot of flick-ons and it helps us.”

Defender Mark Clyde is fit for consideration following a groin problem and Dryden is also looking to sign a new player, in an undisclosed position, before tonight.

City were beaten 2-1 by Thurrock at the Lane in September but are currently four games unbeaten, while Hakan Hayrettin’s side have not won in any competition since November 7.

Meanwhile, chairman An-thony Hampson has given his backing to the club’s supporters’ trust and believes they have a key role to play.

Members feel they have been ignored by the board of directors in recent times and have been seen as hindrance rather than a help.

Anger levels were such that a petition calling for the resignation of former chairman and current director Dave Boddy was handed to Hamp-son by trust member Niels Eiriksson with more than 350 signatures.

Hampson, though, feels the trust’s views should have been taken into account and wants to work with them to take the club forward.

n A pitch inspection will take place at Thurrock’s Ship Lane ground today. There was standing water on the surface yesterday following heavy rain. A decision will be taken before City travel.
