NEW Vale Golf Club ladies’ captain Sandra Cornwell said she was honoured to take up the post.
She kicked-off her year at the helm at the Pershore club with a drive-in event, which raised a total of £180 for charity.
Cornwell has been vice-captain to outgoing skipper Debbie Langham over the last 12 months.
She took up the sport 10 years ago when she joined the Vale, which is based in Hill Furze Road, Pershore.
Her nominated good cause for the year is the Primrose Hospice, which is based in Bromsgrove.
The new lady captain hopes to raise at least £3,000 during her spell in charge.
Cornwell, who lives in Inkberrow, said: “It’s a great honour to be asked.
“This is the quiet time of the season, but we have a number of events planned next year.”
