HOOKER Chris Fortey is set to join the exclusive ‘200 club’ in the Guinness Premiership when Worcester Warriors entertain table-topping Saracens at Sixways tonight (8pm).
Director of rugby Mike Rud-dock has selected the same starting line-up that drew 12-12 on home soil with Bath as he looks for Warriors to secure a third home win of the campaign.
Fortey is named among the replacements and, if he plays a part in the encounter, it will be his 200th game in the English top-flight and he’ll move to fifth in the all-time league standings for games played.
“Chris is about to hit the 200 club in the Premiership and this is yet another example of his durability, professionalism and skill,” said Ruddock.
The only change to the 23-man squad comes on the bench where back-row James Collins replaces Jake Abbott, who is currently away on England Sevens duty in Dubai.
Ruddock insists the excitement in his Sixways squad could not be any greater as Warriors prepare to challenge the unbeaten league leaders.
The Warriors boss added: “We face a really big challenge against Saracens. Not only are they top of the Guinness Premiership, but they have just beaten world champions South Africa — so you don’t get a much bigger challenge than this, but it’s one we’re all excited about.”
Saracens are looking to make it nine wins from nine games in the Premiership and welcome back captain Steve Borthwick to the starting line-up.
The England skipper returns along with USA international Chris Wyles and Fiji’s Moses Rauluni, who have also been on international duty.
Sarries defence and forwards coach Paul Gustard said: “We know that going to Sixways is always a tough test. They have some very good players with the likes of Chris Latham, Sam Tuitupou, Pat Sanderson and others.
“They also have a very strong forward pack so we know we are in for a tough game, but the guys are really looking forward to the challenge and they know that we have to increase our effort levels week on week to keep getting the results we want.”
Like Abbott, Sarries’ Kevin Barrett is in Dubai with the England Sevens squad, while hooker Fabio Ongaro is still away with Italy. Matias Aguero and Neil de Kock are sidelined through injury.
