EVESHAM United boss Paul West is warning his players that bookings for dissent will not be tolerated as three of his charges are suspended for Saturday’s trip to Bedford Town (3pm).

The Robins also have doubts over the fitness of midfielders Mark Hands (shin) and Steve Lutz (ankle) and striker Jermaine Clarke (groin).

So West will have a depleted squad for the trip to The Eyrie as midfielder Leon Woodley and defenders Jamie Hyde and Danny Hodnett all serve one-match bans.

But it is the number of yellow cards picked up for dissent that is annoying the Evesham boss.

“Out of the three suspended, Danny’s probably could have been avoided as the majority have come from dissent and petulance,” West said.

“Simon Fitter is also walking a tight rope because of dissent and I have had a meeting with both of them over this matter.

“If they can’t talk to the referee properly, then I don’t want them speaking at all because they are no good to me if they are banned because of dissent.”

West insists discipline isn’t a problem but is concerned enough to try and stop it escalating.

Evesham have not enjoyed the best of campaigns this term.

They have bowed out of the FA Cup, FA Trophy, the Red Insure Cup, Worcestershire Senior Cup and are at the wrong end of the Zamaretto League Premier Division table.

But the Robins boss is trying to remain positive with Saturday’s opponents the Eagles also struggling in the league.

“Both of us will be fighting for our lives,” West added. “Apart from Rugby, everyone else down there could be in the top half with a couple of wins.

“You have to keep things in perspective and that is what I’m doing.”
