PERSHORE continued their useful BodyKraft Men’s Hockey League West Midlands Division Two run with a good 1-1 draw against promotion rivals Bloxwich.

The hosts displayed fine defensive skills with Dave Hindle shining against dangerous opponents.

Pershore produced some of their best hockey this season and their goal came from a well-worked move.

Paul Grummet and Ali Sanderson exchanged passes before the former calmly slotted the ball away.

Bloxwich began the second-half brighter, closing Pershore down higher up the field.

With 10 minutes left, the hosts let their concentration slip and a Bloxwich attacker drove into the area, evading several tackles before beating keeper John Sharratt.

Meanwhile, Stourport Thirds maintained a two-point lead at the top of Worcestershire Women’s League Division Two with a 5-1 win over Pershore.

But the Vale side took the lead when Emma Gardner’s strong run was finished off by Mary Small.

Kat Clasen went close to a second, while Hollie Wharton and Kate Adams shone in midfield.

But Stourport broke through to score three goals before half-time.

The Wyre Forest side added two more in the second period, including a penalty flick after a defender’s foot stopped the ball on the goal-line.

Stand-in Pershore keeper Charmaine Mitchell pulled off several fine saves.

Badsey salvaged a point from a 2-2 draw with Droitwich with a last-gasp equaliser in Division One. Sarah Rickey fired the villagers ahead but then had to swoop for a last-minute leveller after Badsey shipped two goals.
