WORCESTER Wolves search for their fourth consecutive home victory tonight when they host Cheshire Jets at the University of Worcester (7pm).

Having defeated high-flying Milton Keynes Lions in the British Basketball League last weekend, head coach Chuck Evans’ side face another team in the higher echelons of the table.

Victory for Wolves could see them move into the play-off places in the division yet, despite their up-turn in fortunes, Evans is proving to be a hard man to please.

For the past four games, the Wolves have disappointed in the second-half of matches and that is something their former point-guard-turned-coach is keen to rectify.

“Our performances last weekend were still not good enough based on where I want our team to be,” he said. “We were competing well in Newcastle last Friday but lost our focus in the second-half and were defeated.

“Against Milton Keynes, we had a lead in the fourth quarter but lost our focus again and were very fortunate to win the game.

“To get respect in this league, we have to start winning games in a fashion that sends the message we are not the whipping boys for teams anymore.”

Having released guard-forward Kenny Saunders, Evans is expected to give Siman Stewart more court-time.

The head coach wants Evaldas Zabas and former player-head coach Skouson Harker to maintain their form from the 92-91 win over Lions.

Zabas and Harker were both named in the BBL team of the week after their displays against Milton Keynes.

Jets coach Paul Smith is wary of the threat that Zabas poses.

“We have played the Wolves already this season but they are improving all the time and making some smart changes,” he said.

“I think Zabas has been a great find for them, an excellent guard.”
