DYLAN Barnes’ double guided Warndon Villages Scorpions Under 10s to a 2-0 win over Kempsey Colts.
In a clash of the Mercian Festival Junior League Division One high-fliers, Scorpions exerted immediate pressure in blustery conditions.
Ben Ward hit the bar from distance before Barnes was rewarded for a shot from outside the box which slipped through the keeper’s legs.
There was nothing fortunate about the second though when a long range shot from Barnes curled into the top left-hand corner.
Scorpions ensured a climb up the table with George Mann and Ollie Trobe defending well in front of league debutant Ben Hughes in goal who handled superbly.
UNDER 15s: Welland Juniors recorded a fine 2-1 win at Alcester Town with a composed display to make the cup quarter-finals.
Alcester matched Welland and were 1-0 up at half-time through a penalty.
Juniors took the game to Town and equalised after persistent play from player-of-the-match Chris Shuard.
The visitors’ fitness paid off in extra-time when Shuard bagged the winner from 30 yards.
UNDER NINES: Newtown Sports Colts beat Worcester Lions Community 3-0 in Division Two, thanks to Dan Sadler’s first hat-trick.
Colts have gone four games unbeaten with keeper Ben Walker securing their third clean sheet in a row.
Joe Lancett and Lucas Ward turned providers, while defender Harry Walker was player-of-the-match.
