POOL stars from Worcestershire have booked their place at the national finals with a match to spare.
The county’s men’s ‘B’ team hammered Herefordshire 40-4 in region five of the English Pool Association.
Victory ensured they won the league and will join six other regions in Great Yarmouth in March. It is the first time the ‘B’ team, captained by Diego Maese and managed by Lester Crook, have qualified for the finals.
The ‘A’ team are also on the brink of joining their colleagues after defeating Herefordshire 29-15.
They now need to win 12 of the 44 frames against Northamptonshire on December 6.
‘A’ teamer Scott Surridge is also guaranteed to finish top of the region’s averages and is in contention to win the national prize.
The women’s team defeated Herefordshire 25-19 but are still on the look-out for players. Anyone interested can contact Shane Surridge on 07950-532477.
