DROITWICH Rugby Club's Under 17s won 15-10 at Worcester in the North Midlands Southern League.

Droitwich started brightly and were rewarded with an early try scored by Jack Allan and converted by Oliver Swift.

Swift added a drop-goal but Worcester replied with a try.

From the restart, Droitwich took command and moved the ball steadily up the field.

Both forwards and backs acted as a unit, compressing the game, finally allowing a well-worked backs move to release Lucky Nwosu, who scored in the corner.

The first-half ended with Worcester trauiling 15-5.

The second-half started brightly with both teams looking to increase their points tally, but they cancelled each other out for most of the time.

With the wind picking up and at Worcester’s back they utilised it to relieve the mounting Droitwich pressure.

A number of opportunities for both sides were not taken and as the match came to a close Worcester scrambled over for their second try of the game.

Meanwhile, Malvern under 14s entertained Edwardians in the first round of the North Midlands Cup and won a hard-fought contest 45-5.

The home side played against the elements in the first-half but stamped their authority after the interval.
