WORCESTER City ABC Super Heavyweight Ashley James smashed his way through to the Midland novice final by stopping John Jones of Birmingham Irish.
Jones came to the ring with an unbeaten record of five wins, but had not fought a boxer of James’s strength and speed.
But from the first bell, James unleashed a sustained assault on Jones.
Fast jabs and solid rights hammered into the Birmingham boxer, giving him no chance to settle.
A crushing right from James prompted the referee to give Jones a standing count.
Keeping Jones just in range, James used the ring well and continued his two-fisted attacks.
Jones managed to close down his taller opponent during the second, but the majority of his hooks were soaked up on the arms and gloves of James.
Into the third, James was not content with winning by a mile on points and went for the stoppage.
A powerful right found the chin of Jones and a standing count soon followed.
The bout was stopped by international referee Fred Davis with 30 seconds remaining.
