WORCESTER Wanderers came from behind to beat Old Silhillians 30-15 at Weston Fields, thanks to a barnstorming second-half performance in Midlands Two West (South).

A win looked unlikely during the first-half when, despite having the lion’s share of territory and a dominant scrum, Wanderers barely threatened Silhillians’ line.

The visitors took control of the tackle area as Wanderers struggled to hold on to possession.

The blustery conditions made kicking and handling difficult, but Silhillians made light of this to score a great converted try.

Two penalties from Greg Fincher kept Wanderers in the hunt. Silhillians began the second-half by far the stronger of the two teams as they attempted to kill off Wanderers’ challenge.

The young home side were forced to defend doggedly and a turnover on their try-line led to the pressure being lifted with a fine touch kick from Ned Anderson.

Wanderers then dominated all phases of play during the next quarter, scoring four excellent team tries from Jake Saddington, Otto Watson, Reg Ohlson and Luke Denton. Fincher converted two of the scores.

The final try came from Silhillians who, following several phases of play in the Wanderers 22, created an overlap on the right to score in the corner.
