AFTER a season of hard-fought competition, Tom Jenkins was crowned as Perdiswell Park Golf Club’s summer league champion.

The overall winner was decided by compiling the best five rounds from the summer, which saw Jenkins tot up 185 stableford points.

Steve Williams was second just three points behind and Joe Jackson took the third spot on 178 points.

In the women’s competition, Jane Nicklin racked up a total of 142 points to finish two ahead of Jas Bishop and take the title. Betty Hunt (122) was third.

Meanwhile, Geoff Edge won the club’s par competition, which also incorporated the EGU medal. In second place — and first division prize-winner — was Stan Wyres.

A foursomes competition was won by Dave Postans and Phil Lane with gross 80, nett 67, just one stroke ahead of second-placed duo Bernard Wood and Edge.

John Byrne claimed the three-club championship title with a remarkable score of nett 67. Sean Smith eased into second spot ahead of Lane on countback after both finished on nett 68.

Postans also won the October mid-week medal with a creditable gross 82, nett 62 — at the cost of one handicap stroke. Tom Hardy took second spot on countback from Jas Bishop.

In the nine-hole medal, Bill Morris’ nett 32 placed him first ahead of Ray Day (34).

Steve Griffiths and Mike Williams won the club’s betterball competition after holding off the challenge of Clive Brown and Tom Saint.

The club’s ladies’ section contested the Autumn Crystal and the winner was Margaret Kupfer with Lil Morris taking the second spot and Val Williams third.

The eighth round of the mid-week President’s Trophy was won by Cyril Misters with a nett 67. Tony Porter (68) was second ahead of Wood (69).
