ST George’s moved closer to the top of Worcester Table Tennis League Division One with their third consecutive 10-0 win.

They whitewashed Himbleton ‘A’ but then dropped a point in defeating YMCA Falcons 7-3 at home.

Falcons’ Ian Bell caused the upset of the night when he got the better of young Michael Siket, who had not lost in the league for more than a year.

Bell also beat Dale Dickinson and Jim Ahern collected the visitors’ other win but Siket’s father Lewis was as dominant as ever for St George’s.

Previously, Falcons went down 9-1 to Rainbow as John Stalker prevented the whitewash but Dave Woodyatt and Pete Griffiths remained unbeaten.

The YMCA side did have more success against Cripplegate Guild, winning 7-3 with two wins for Bell, Stalker and Pat Murray plus the doubles.

Phil Houghton hit back with two victories and Steve Glazzard one in a close match.

Rainbow kept up the pressure at the top with a 7-3 win over Himbleton ‘A’.

The villagers did well to earn a point and Ray Page was unlucky to lose narrowly to John Rowe and Dave Rothero, who also combined to win the doubles.

Jostekeropa notched 7-3 wins against Cripplegate Guild and Nemesis.

Three successes from Rob Sinderberry and two by Paul Smyth led the way against Guild with two from Steve Baker in reply.

Against Nemesis, Lynda Reid marked her first appearance of the season with a maximum, supported by two from the ever-green John Mytton.

Broadheath Belters put up a good fight in a 6-4 loss to Guild, especially Pete Roberts, whose two successes included a superb win over Phil Houghton.

Nick Whitham’s three wins proved crucial in the end.

St George’s Dragons held leaders Hartlebury Wanderers to a 5-5 draw with the unbeaten Chris Webb in impressive form.

In reply, a vital win for Dragons’ Shafaz Ditta against Lyn Davies topped off two victories each for Geoff Woodward and Steve Mills.
