NUNNERY Wood Tigers Under 12s inflicted Warndon Villages Sharks’ first defeat in normal time for more than a season.

They defeated their city rivals 2-1 in the Stourport Youth League Cup first round with goals from Alfie Driskel and Josh Smallman.

Sharks are unbeaten in the league and won the title last season without losing a game as well as reaching the cup final before going down on penalties to Nunnery Wood Leopards.

Tigers were one goal down at half-time and keeper Toby Wilcox was called into action to save from Andy Murphy before Sharks’ early opener through Kieran Burns.

Joseph Kealey, Liam Dayus, Ben Jones and Jordan Slade defended well for Sharks.

The midfield battle continued in the second period with chances at a premium although Wilcox made a fine save from Matt Sowden.

Tigers gradually took control and Driskel rolled the ball past the keeper for the equaliser in the final quarter.

Sharks nearly regained the lead only for a crucial header from Kieran Smith.

But Tigers avoided extra-time when Smallman nodded in Will Henshall’s corner.

James Price and Henshall worked hard for Tigers in the middle of the park.

UNDER 15s: Nunnery Wood Jaguars progressed in the cup with a hard-fought 3-2 win at Malvern Town Wanderers after extra-time.

Jaguars fell behind to a Tom Bottomley goal early in the second period.

The setback galvanised the Worcester side who levelled through Azaad Khan’s header from a Chris Jeffrey cross.

Jaguars went ahead through Kieran Sheen with 10 minutes left but Bottomley equalised in the dying seconds.

But the visitors claimed victory in extra-time as Adam Calvert nodded home a Sam Jones corner. Keeper Adam Paintin secured the win with fine handling.

Oldbury Park Tigers made an early cup exit, going down 3-1 at Halas Hawks with a poor performance.

Tigers made a great start with the opener on three minutes after James Day headed down for Tom Baker to score.

A mixture of poor finishing and good keeping kept Tigers down to one goal with David Walker, Baker, Day, Martin Welsby, Gavin Murphy and Jordan Murton going close.

Tigers shipped an equaliser with 10 minutes of the first-half left and Halas made the most of their chances to score twice in the second period.
