HEREFORD United manager John Trewick believes the trip to high-flying Barnet should hold no fears for his side tomorrow (3pm).
The Bulls, who have progressed to the FA Cup second round and the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy southern semi-finals in the past week, have been steadily climbing the League Two table.
With wins over Chesterfield and leaders Bournemouth as well as draws with Dagenham and Redbridge and Rotherham, teams in and around the play-off places should be wary of improving Hereford.
“Barnet have had a decent start and are doing well for one of the smaller clubs in our division,” Trewick said.
“But we have been doing well against the top sides and there is no reason why that can’t continue.”
Having beaten Ryman League Premier Division side Sutton United in the FA Cup last Saturday before their JPT penalty shoot-out win over Leyton Orient, Trewick wants his side to maintain their form at Underhill.
“We wanted to progress in both competitions and have done that,” the Bulls chief said. “Now we have to turn our attentions back to the league and carry on from where we left off.”
Before Hereford switched their attention to the cups, they saw off basement side Darlington 2-1 and have only lost one of their last nine outings in all competitions.
But French striker Mathieu Manset will serve the second of his three-match ban tomorrow following a red card in the Sutton match.
Trewick rested winger Marc Pugh and full-back Ryan Valentine at Orient and both are back in contention at Barnet.
Midfielder Sam Gwynne returns from a leg injury but on-loan defender Darren Dennehy is away with the Republic of Ireland Under 21s.
“It is not a problem being without Mathieu as he has only played a handful of games so far for us,” Trewick said. “He missed Tuesday night and will be out for another two matches.
“There are one or two niggles and bruises in the squad, having played Saturday and Tuesday, but, apart from being without Mathieu and Darren, I’m hoping everyone will be alright.
“But, until they come in for training today, we won’t make any decisions.”
Barnet have not lost at home in League Two this season with their only defeat at Underhill being a 2-0 extra-time reverse to Championship side Watford in the Carling Cup.
